CARA Montrose 6am - Week 4
Fourth of July Saturday build run; also, no NASCAR
No Fun Fridays Begins
We’re starting our second cycle, which means this is a build week. It’s time to start thinking about self-imposed No Fun Fridays. Since tomorrow is a holiday with potential rain, I expect we’re going to have a lot of absences for our run.
Weather, Water Stops, & Turnarounds
There is a 39% chance right now on ⛈️Scattered Thunderstorms until around 6:30am. We will be keeping an eye on the radar tonight and early tomorrow morning. Email and the Strava club are the two places to check for official announcements. In the unlikely event it gets cancelled, I will also send out an email blast.
Scenario A: there is rain but no lightning in the area - we be running!
Scenario B: there is lightning in the area, but it looks to pass by 7:00 - we will shelter in vehicles until the lightning passes, then we be running!
Scenario C: lightning looks likely to continue past 7:00 - we will cancel and advise everyone to run later in the day or come back on Sunday to run with the CARA groups.
Temps in the mid 70’s and rising quickly, humidity at 95% or greater. Keep an eye on your runners on the way back; extend water breaks 30s or so if needed.
🚰 Waveland, Diversey, North Ave, Monroe, and Montrose - there’s also the water fountain at the south end of the Chicago River bridge, for those running advanced mileage.
🏃Novice: 9 miles (North Ave. 🚢)
🏃Intermediate: 11 (Chicago Ave.)
🏃Advanced: 13 (Chicago River bridge🌉)
Notable Path Events
Nothing of note is happening this year. “4 on the Fourth” races are all in the suburbs. Booooorrriiiing.
Other Items
RushPT continues to be on-site; please remind runners that Katie Wax is available for questions and evals as part of CARA’s partnership with them.
And that’s all I have for this week. See you, tomorrow!
